Kerry Washington Los Angeles Times Magazine

Kerry Washington Los Angeles Times Magazine

Los Angeles Times Magazine focuses on Kerry Washington this month, revealing the renaissance woman she's become. She grew up in the Bronx, steeped in social consciousness and the arts, and has extended that pedigree to an impressive body of film and stage work, as well as an appointment to Obama's Committee on the Arts and Humanities. Photographed by Ruven Afanador and styled by Haley Atkin, Washington looks futuristic and mod in an angular bob, smoky eyes and textured, vibrant couture. She discusses her newest project, Night Catches Us, a dark and inspiring play that hits close to home, and the political conscience she inherited from her mother, which has informed both her work and activism.

The holiday-themed issue also features "King's Speech" Oscar contender Geoffrey Rush answering LA-inspired queries, hand-picked presents for the passionate ones on your list, the key to a dreamy holiday cocktail, and a guide to Las Vegas' over-the-top New Year's Eve nightspots. The entire issue will be online this weekend: www.latimesmagazine.com.
